Hi all, can anyone give me some baseline parameters for packets per second on a lan, as when Im monitoring I need to know what an acceptable and unacceptable amount of traffic is ??
please help

also what would be a good normal response time over a wan link, ie 2 meg serial ??

actually It depends on bandwidth and switching capacity. but generally you can just refer by delay from ping test.
if delay has 0.125sec, it can be acceptable.
more delay ?, needs finding where congestion is happening and traffic flow.

how about on a normal lan with say 250 pc's on it?? I need to know a baseline rate for packets per second, and say ping time to that lan over a 2 meg frame relay connection??
cheers
