Hi Folks,

I have Cat 6009 with 6.4 sw version.

firstly, one of my power supply not being recongnized and though redundant power supply is being noticed by the system but continuously giving below messege.

2007 Jun 25 18:51:26 %SYS-5-PS_REMOVE:Power supply 2 has been removed

2007 Jun 25 18:51:28 %SYS-5-PS_INSERT:Power supply 2 has been inserted

2007 Jun 25 18:51:28 %SYS-2-PS_OK:Power supply 2 okay

2007 Jun 25 18:51:28 %SYS-1-SYS_ENABLEPS: Power supply 2 enabled

2007 Jun 25 18:51:55 %SYS-2-PS_FAIL:Power supply 2 failed

main cause is below error:

2007 Jun 25 14:40:33 %SYS-1-SYS_OVERPWRRTNG:System drawing more power than the power supply rating

While searching on Cisco found to be problem related to hw and sw compitiblity but same configuration of hw and sw is working fine with other setup.

Sup : WS-X6K-SUP1A-2GE

Sw : cat6000-sup.6-4-6.bin

PS : WS-CAC-4000W-INT

Kindly provide a solution.

Thanks,

Hardik..

The power supply mode is redundant and that one power supply is not enough to power the whole chassis. You can perform one of these two options:

Get a higher-wattage power supply.

For example, if the current power supply is 1300W AC, get a 2500W AC or 4000W AC power supply.

Make the power supply redundancy mode combined.

Here is an example:

cat6knative(config)#power redundancy-mode combined

cat6knative(config)#

%C6KPWR-SP-4-PSCOMBINEDMODE: power supplies set to combined mode.

Hi,

Thanks for ur input.

Actually, Power Supply of 4000W each.

I had removed first PS which was not being recognized by Switch. Presently, it is working with second PS without any problem.

I suspect problem with the Chassis slot where PS-1 gets fixed.

Hardik..
