I allowed my CCNA certification to lapse. I understand that to recertify I can either pass the current CCNA exam, or pass the ICND2 exam, or pass any 642 professional level or Cisco Specialist exam. Does that apply to my situation with a lapsed CCNA certificate? If so, I could pass any 642 exam to get a CCNA certificate plus be one leg up on the way to my CCNP? Seems to good to be true.

I thought if your CCNA lapsed you need to pass the 801 or both icnd and intro.

Hi,

If your certification has lapsed or expired i.e. from the date you passed the CCNA exam till 3 calendar years you have NOT made any attempts to recertify, then I'm afraid to say that you need to retake the CCNA exam(s).

Recertification ONLY applies if you have NOT allowed the Cert to expire, once its expired, its expired!

Please visit the CCNA webpage for detailed information, and please feel free if you have any other queries

Hope that helps,
