QinQ and VLAN mapping

Hi,

Were a small ISP and just looking for a few ideas regarding an issue weve come up against. We offer two basic services ? all based on Ethernet backhaul:

1. Layer 2 VPN only ? Customer given VLAN between 2 sites. Eg Csr ?VLAN 100 over SP net - Csr

2.Layer 3 ? Customer connection is VLAN?d back to nearest Layer 3 device ? given public IP addresses and away they go. Eg Csr site - > VLAN 666- > Router - Internet

If they want a L2 VPN with Internet access for a central office then hybrid of two is deployed ie trunk with both VLAN (666) for L3 Internet and VLAN (100) for L2 site-to-site connectivity.

Were in a situation where were only allowed one VLAN for the central site (due to a 3rd party tail) which leaves the design broken.

Would QinQ work in this situation ? ie would it be able to trunk 2 VLANs into a single VLAN across the 3rd party tail and remap at the remote site? Are there any other possible solutions?

Many thanks for any input. Still quite new to this. : )

I am not sure but I think QinQ work in this situation and may be you can be able to trunk 2 VLANs into a single VLAN across the 3rd party tail.

Hi, Yes, totally agree. Think MPLS/VRFs are the way to go. New hardware but the best option over a single VLAN to get the routing table seperation. Thanks for the feedback.
