Channelised T1 over IP

Hi guys,

I have the following setup:

PBX<--->Channelised T1 circuit<---->PBX

T1 set as TE

Coding B8ZS

Signalling None or Cass

ISDN Version Nortel

ISDN Country USA / Canada

Law mlaw

I would like to migrate the T1 to use our IP Data network. Like bellow

PBX T1<-->Router<--IP Net-->Router<-->PBX T1

I would like to encapsulate the T1/TDM over IP. Is there a way of doing with Cisco routers?

Thanks

Goncalo

Sure, actually cisco had invented the technology.

There are two methods: Circuit emulation over IP, that requires certain module types, and Voice over Ip, that require other ones. I recommed VoIP as it it more flexible and bandwidth efficient.

In both cases you would use ISR router, but while with VoIP a 2801 would be enough, with Circuit Emulation over IP you would need a minimum of 2811 because the form factor of the module is network module.

Many thanks for the reply.

Could you please be a little bit more specific about the technolog behind. Do you have a referal page for it?

I am having dificulty finding the documentation on this feature on 28xx.

Many thanks and kind regards

Goncalo

Hi,

there is a lot of documentation on CCO, the thing is if you never have done any VoIP design, you would probably find very confusing. I suggest you contact a reputable cisco partner/reseller and tell you want to connecte two ISDN PBX using 2801 "voice bundle" and the VWIC-1MFT-T1. If not unsure about the solution they propose you, came back here and ask again.
