I must say that having only a global option for controlling how the phones pick up multiple lines is a pain in the butt. I'm pretty new to Cisco's vision of VoIP, but I can't believe that other people don't have the same problem as I do with this.
I've got some areas that want the off-hook to answer any of the defined lines, and I've got other areas that want off-hook to answer the prime-line.
Does anyone have an idea as to when, or if, Cisco plans to offer the "Always use prime line" feature as a per-device option?
Are there any known workarounds?

It's already there from CCM 3.0
For configuring it use the following steps,
Select Service > Service Parameters.
Choose your server.
Choose the Cisco CallManager service.
Look for the "Always Use Prime Line" parameter

What version of CM are you using ? Not sure when this feature started but you can control this per device in later versions of CM. (atleast i have seen this in 5.x)
--- Edit----
Looks like i may have thrown some wrong info here. The setting under device "Auto Line Select" starting with 5.x will only control how the focus will shift on the LCD display for incoming calls.
Yeah so to answer your question, currently not available. I doubt if this is available in 6.x either.
