CCNA 640-802 lab setup

Unanswered Question

We used 6 2950 switches and 6 2621 routers and an ISDN switch for the CCNA 640-801 lab setup. On CCNA TV I heard 2811 routers are used. Does this mean we need to get new routers? Can we get by with the 2600 series routers and new IOS images? What would we miss out on the hands-on if we stick to the current hardware?

I have this problem too.

2600 Series should be enough for your CCNA studies.

Cisco uses 2811 for their labs but that's due to 2600s being EOL. 2600s do support the latest and greatest IOS out there, same as the 2811.

That setup is more than enough for the CCNA. You just need routers running IOS 12.4. You'll want to augment that setup when it comes time for the CCNP. But you have a great core setup that should be relevant for a while.
