As stated earlier, wiseman GE cards (32bit, 33 MHz) does not support Jumbo packets. They can be set to 1500 max mtu.

Vibhor.

Pix with livengood GE-cards (64bit, 66 MHz) do support the jumbo packets. They should run pix version 5.3.1 and above.

The Jumbo parket size can upto 16K. If you want to use the Jumbo packet you need to set the "mtu" of the GE nic to 16000. Its recommended not to exceed 16000.

Note: The wiseman GE cards (32bit, 33 MHz) does not support Jumbo packets.

Hope this helps.

Hi Vibhor.

Thanks for your help. how do i know if i have livengood GE-cards (64bit, 66 MHz) without opening the pix. The gig card i have are as follows:

Interface GigabitEthernet0

Hardware is i82542 rev03, BW 1000 Mbps

Interface GigabitEthernet1

Hardware is i82542 rev03, BW 1000 Mbps

Thanks

If show interface is showing i82542, then these are 33MHz Wiseman cards.

66MHz Livengood version will show up as i82543.

Thus, as per the current output, it seems that you have 33MHz Wiseman cards.

Hope this helps.

Hi

What is the largest mtu supported by the 33MHz Wiseman cards?

Thanks

John
