Running voice and data over 2Mb links

Hi there, I am having problems with our IPT at the moment. We have Cisco 1841 or 1751/1760 routers at our smaller sites on 2Mb links back to our cores sites. The line protocol to the serial interface on the routers keeps dropping out for a few seconds or minutes which is affecting service. Our service provider's are checking their equipment but they haven't found any issues.

Does anyone else have similar problems?

Thanks

Hi,

can you include a show interface here ?

It would be good if your routers had embedded E1 interfaces, as these let you monitor the real performances of the circuit, but I guess this is not your case.

Hi there, I understand what you mean as we use E1 cards on our gateways and at larger sites where we are running VOIP across the network but for our smaller sites we are only using WIC-1T cards to connect our 2Mb pipes and then we have installed the IP phones on our LAN. It works well most of the time but the serial i/f dropouts are becoming more frequent.

Here are one of the router logs :

*Jun 4 16:46:01: %LINEPROTO-5-UPDOWN: Line protocol on Interface Serial0/0/0, c

hanged state to down

*Jun 4 16:46:45: %LINEPROTO-5-UPDOWN: Line protocol on Interface Serial0/0/0, c

hanged state to up

*Jun 4 16:47:19: %LINK-3-UPDOWN: Interface Serial0/0/0, changed state to down

*Jun 4 16:47:20: %LINEPROTO-5-UPDOWN: Line protocol on Interface Serial0/0/0, c

hanged state to down

*Jun 4 17:33:24: %LINK-3-UPDOWN: Interface Serial0/0/0, changed state to up

*Jun 4 17:33:25: %LINEPROTO-5-UPDOWN: Line protocol on Interface Serial0/0/0, c

hanged state to up

*Jun 10 02:56:22: %LINEPROTO-5-UPDOWN: Line protocol on Interface Serial0/0/0, c

hanged state to down

*Jun 10 02:58:05: %LINEPROTO-5-UPDOWN: Line protocol on Interface Serial0/0/0, c

hanged state to up

*Jun 14 12:16:38: %LINK-3-UPDOWN: Interface Serial0/0/0, changed state to down

*Jun 14 12:16:39: %LINEPROTO-5-UPDOWN: Line protocol on Interface Serial0/0/0, c

hanged state to down

*Jun 14 12:17:18: %LINK-3-UPDOWN: Interface Serial0/0/0, changed state to up

*Jun 14 12:17:23: %LINEPROTO-5-UPDOWN: Line protocol on Interface Serial0/0/0, c

hanged state to up

PS We currently use QoS to prioritise the traffic and apply a policy map to our serial interfaces.
