Do you need a AAA server or just a server to authenticate to like Active Directory?

Thanks in advance to anyone who can offer clarification on this point.

An ACS server is not required for NAC appliance, only NAC server. The NAC appliance can talk directly to an Active Directory server without the requirement of ACS. NAC framework requires ACS, which is different from NAC appliance.
