LMI Status Meassage Definitions

My Cisco press book has conflicting definitions and answers to the LMI status definitions for Frame Relay. The way I understand it is LMI Active means all is well end to end. LMI Inactive means one DTE is good to the Frame Relay switch and the remote DTE is not working in some capacity. LMI Deleted means that there is no Frame Relay service setup or that there is no LMI being received from the switch, possibly the wrong LMI type. Study questions and answers seem to contradict my understanding of these concepts. Can somebody please clarify what the different LMI status messages (Active, Inactive, Deleted) mean when looking at Frame Relay information?

Thank you,

Brian

Brain,

I think you are taling about the frame-relay PVC status on the frame-relay interfaces.

Here is some inputs on the same:

ACTIVE? The PVC is operational and can transmit packets.

INACTIVE?The PVC is configured, but down.

DELETED?The PVC is not present (DTE device only, generally at the customer premise router), which means that no status is received from the LMI protocol.

HTH,Please rate if it does.
