What do you want to achive?

You have an apps which send snmp quiry to the swithc to get same statistics or you use an apps listens for snmp traps or both. If you use only traps you have to configure where to send the traps. Honestly I'm not familiar with CatOS but in general that's the way.

Hope it helps,

You need an snmp host to send the traps though it should show up in the logs . Show logg buffer 1000 should show you the logs . To set an snmp host "set snmp trap enable"

HI Steven, [Pls Rate if Helps]

Default SNMP Configuration consists of 4 Steps:

1. Define the SNMP community strings for each access type.

set snmp community read-only community_string

set snmp community read-write community_string

set snmp community read-write-all community_string

2. Assign a trap receiver and community. You can specify up to ten trap receivers.

set snmp trap rcvr_address rcvr_community

3. Specify the SNMP traps to send to the trap receiver.

set snmp trap enable [all | module | chassis | bridge | repeater | auth | vtp | ippermit | vmps | config | entity | stpx]

4. Verify the SNMP configuration.

show snmp

I see STEP:2 is missing in your Configuration. Pls Verify the Syntax above & configure the same in the Switch.

You need to specify the Trap Receiver (IP of SNMP Collection PC).
