Hello --
Can anyone point me to a clear guide on media resources; conferencing/transcoding? I have trouble understanding when you use software vs. hardware and how many DSPs I need at which sites. Any information you can provide would be great.

When you use software resources, usually there are a lot of restrictions, such as only able to make 6 party conferences with G711 codec.
When you use hardware resources such as hardware conference bridge and transcoders, you would be able to increase the number of conference participants and can be a mix of G711 and G729 calls.
DSP calculations is one of the more complicated stuffs, I'm still learning this too. Everybody is, otherwise we wouldn't be in this forum. :)
