Hi,

which device is preffered in the core layer, 4500 or 6500? i know a lot of criteris will come through, so some of them are:

1- server farm of about 20 servers

2- using IP Telephony

3- number of users are approximately 300

what is the main diffrences between them (Except performance)and is there a big diffrence in their prices.

The 4500 will do it for you, and yes there is a considerable price difference between both, please refer to the Cisco Switch Guide:

thanks for the reply, i checked the link and i want to know how they calculate that it is 138 Gbps for the 4500 and 32Gbps to 720Gbps for 6500 ??.

Hi,

This number depends on the Supervisor Engine used with it, for example a 6500 with Sup-720 can have a total BW of 720G, while a SUP

V-10GbE for the 4500 can have a total BW of 136G.
