Routers and IP addresses

i recently found in my network(50 nodes) that the previous guy was using in some of them ip address starting with 127.x.x.x. Is there any specific reason for that? Is that possible to cause security problems? It looks very strange to me. And of course i tried to get contact with him the past month and could not reach him. Can anyone help me?

Unless it's used for LAN subnets, do not worry. For example the router will use it no problem for loopback interfaces and perhaps that is what the previous guy had in mind.

What's the reason to have in my routers loopback interface since i do not use OSPF.

And what about if this address is the address for LAN subnets

That would be bad as it would actually preclude communications to that subnet from any host that uses 127.0.0.1 as loopback address. That is, any host or PC.
