Hi, when using ftp via the web browser, If my machine is set to use a proxy server, would it ftp via the proxy, or would it go straight to the firewall?

HI Carl,
It depends on FTP Allow / Deny rule, where it is defined.
Consider you have site-to-site vpn conn...& your ftp server is hosted in remote site. You need to allow in your firewall (for the IP) to which ftp is required.
If you going to access ftp in public internet domain. You need to allow FTP in the Proxy Server.

so how come ftp goes through the proxy ? I thought http only goes thgrough this, is it because its via a webpage ?
