I am running IOS 12.2.18(SXF) on a 6509 and it stops responding (requires manual restart) when the "mls qos" global command is entered. Has anyone come across this before?

Hi,

Do you have SXF9, or can upgrade to it ?

Sorry I have resolved this issue - was due to inconsistent QoS properties between ports in an etherchannel and a dependency on the etherchannel for connectivity to the switch. Resolved by turning off mls qos on the etherchannel and its ports straight after enabling mls globally. Additionally we could probably use the "no mls qos channel-consistency " command but haven't tried this yet.

thanks for the response

Thank you for providing the solution, IMHO is not admissible for a device to crash because a minor configuration inconsistency, unfortunately we see that at times.
