Besides looking physically at the serial number on a Cisco IOS (router 3745), is there any command which can let me retrieve serial number?

All new ISR routers support the "sh inventory" command which can be used to get the chassis serial number.
New IOS releases for the 3745 too supports this command but instead report the processor board IP instead of chassis serial number.
Best way would be to use the SNMP chassis-ID and update the serial number so that it cab be retreived at ant time without any need for physical access.
