Configure two VWIC2-1MFT-E1

Hi,

Currently i have a Cisco 2851 router with 1 VWIC-1MFT-E1 installed and just added another VWIC-1MFT-E1.

Please advise on the config on how should I add both E1 card to the same group.(the second ISDN30 is a slave ISDN bt Telco).

The changes config will be as follows:

controller E1 0/1/0

pri-group timeslots 1-31 service mgcp

!

controller E1 0/2/0

pri-group timeslots 1-31 service mgcp

!

interface Serial0/1/0:15

no ip address

isdn switch-type primary-net5

isdn incoming-voice voice

isdn bind-l3 ccm-manager

no cdp enable

interface Serial0/2/0:15

no ip address

isdn switch-type primary-net5

isdn incoming-voice voice

isdn bind-l3 ccm-manager

no cdp enable

Yes, assuming you're running MGCP, this is correct. In Callmanager, you will need to create a Route Group for each E1 and then create a Route List that includes both Route Groups. Then assign this Route List to Route Patterns.

Now I faced some error

% For current codec complexity, 1 extra dsp(s) are required to create this voice

port.

Is that mean that i need 2 purchase DSP module ?

Pls advise as i am new in VoIP.

Hi Brandon,

I managed to find out the the current 2851 router has only PVDM2-48 installed.

I may need 2 purchase PVDM2-16 to support 2 E1 card.

Is it correct ? I do not think i need 2 purchase any license as it route to the Call Manager

Hi Norman,

Yes, you are correct here. You are short 12 DSP resources to complete the 30 channel E1. You would need to order at least the part you suggested PVDM2-16 (48 + 16 = 64 channels). There are no additional licenses required. Here is a good doc;
