Unity DIRT Scenario

I am doing a migration where I had 2 Unity servers in different domains doing SMTP networking.

I am moving to 2 servers on the same domain with digital networking. We had an issue before where we tried to restore the 2nd server and there were still contacts on the 2nd server that had matching aliases to accounts we were trying to restore so it failed. But I also wonder if it will fail if it tries to restore the contacts that point to existing accounts on server one. Double whammy basically.

Has anyone ever done this successfully and have any words of wisdom.

My new domain is set up and everything is working perfectly. But now I need to do the restore.

Bringing back the old server as is, is not an option. This is because the associations with AD are broken, which means the server needs to be rebuilt and restored from DiRT before it can be brought into production, using a failover configuration

instead.
