StatefulFirewall bug in VPN 5.0 client ?

Hello group,

I have come across an issue with the Cisco VPN client version 5.0. Can anybody verify if this is a known bug, and what might be the fix ? I have summarized the issue below:

Problem: If VPN GUI is started when the Cisco VPN Clients' statefull firewall is in "suspended" mode the configuration file is edited so the statefull firewall never recovers. The problem was traced to a setting in the "vpnclient.ini" file, where the line "StatefulFirewall" should either read '1' or '2', but the GUI changes that to '0' under certain circumstances. The details are below:

-- commandline action --

C:\Program Files\Cisco Systems\VPN Client>vpnclient.exe resumefw

Cisco Systems VPN Client Version 5.0.00.0340

Copyright (C) 1998-2006 Cisco Systems, Inc. All Rights Reserved.

Client Type(s): Windows, WinNT

Running on: 5.1.2600 Service Pack 2

Config file directory: C:\Program Files\Cisco Systems\VPN Client\

The Stateful Firewall (Always On) service has been resumed

-- result in settings --

> vpnclient.ini:

StatefulFirewall=1

--

Start: vpngui.exe (no change in settings)

====

-- commandline action --

C:\Program Files\Cisco Systems\VPN Client>vpnclient.exe suspendfw

Cisco Systems VPN Client Version 5.0.00.0340

Copyright (C) 1998-2006 Cisco Systems, Inc. All Rights Reserved.

Client Type(s): Windows, WinNT

Running on: 5.1.2600 Service Pack 2

Config file directory: C:\Program Files\Cisco Systems\VPN Client\

The Stateful Firewall (Always On) service has been suspended

-- result in settings --

> vpnclient.ini:

StatefulFirewall=2

--

Start: vpngui.exe

Change:

StatefulFirewall=0

====

NO resume is possible from either GUI or command line once the StatefulFirewall=0 is set! A reboot doesn't alter the setting. The only way around this seems to edit the vpnclient.ini file manually.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Regards,

GP
