Hi,

Can anybody explain the following line from Cisco site..

IPv6 routers must not forward packets that have site-local source or destination addresses outside of the

site.

IPv6 site local addresses are like private addresses in IPv4: You are not supposed to see these addresses on the Internet and therefore anybody can use them for numbering of a private network. They are not globally unique.

Since the router won't know automagically if it would be forwarding a packet outside an administrative domain, you would have to set up filters yourself at the egress points of you network, just like you do with IPv4 private addresses.

Hope this helps.

In ipv6 router interface site local ip add is analogous to private ip add in ipv4.

the site local ip add is used to communicate witin the domain or site.

for communicating outside the site it uses global unicast address...... wich is analogous to global or internet address....

so i hope it is cleared
