Gateway of last resort

guys whats gateway of last resort......i have lil bit understanding that if no match uis found it shd be forwarded to this address.....so in other words......if we point a static route to next hope is it become th egateway of last resort??? secondly we have three command to do that i m confuse that which command we shd use an dwhen and why?? kindly see the commands below

ip default-gateway

ip default-network

and ip route 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0

IP default-gateway is used by non-routing devices like layer 2 switches. This is the same as the default gateway for a PC, and is only needed by the management interface.

IP default-network and the static 0/0 are used by routers.
