I'm working on the gatekeeper and gateways exam. I reached the last chapter of the book, which is "Cisco multiservice IP to IP gateway", and I was just wondering whether it is worth spending loads of time on this chapter, as it appear to be used only by Service provider. I work only in medium company network, could I come accross this feature even in a company LAN network ??

if yes, is it something that is frequent ?

thanks a lot in advance

Yes, you can.

For example it appears that CCM in some versions cannot do SIP "Http digest authentication",or can use H.323 only.

In this case you would use an IP-to-IP GW.

Another use is transcoding.

Hope this helps, please rate post if it does!
