ASA 5505 version 8.02 FTP issue

I had an FTP issue when conections were slow and would drop out. I confirmed my NAT routing, access lists and service policy were all correct.

I then noticed the command

- ftp mode passive

I searched the CCO for information on this command and could not find any.

Once disabled both passive and active FTP worked as expected. Does anyone have any information on this command?
