Hi everybody; my configuration consists of a 1GB network with two main locattions seperated 40km?s. I want to utilize the network for VoIP just to communicate between these two locations; Is it possible to install e.g. just two 7911G phones without any call manager software? Or is at least a 2801 router required? Thank you. Ernst

Yes, you need the router. This will enable you to build a voip PBX with many many features. This is called CME and is embedded in IOS.

If you do not want to use that anyway, buy non-cisco phones that can do "direct ip calls". Most good brands do.

Hope this helps, please rate post if it does!
