Persistent FCID's

I have inherited a couple of MDS 9509's and as part of my audit I have found Presistent and non-Presistent FCID's. I know if "not used" is selected they will be lost if the switch reboots.

My question is, why would anybody have set non-presistent FCID's?

Hosts are Windows & ESX servers with EVA's.

Thanks.

Howdy,

You only really need them if you use AIX and HP-UX.

Pre SanOS 2.0 it was default to NOT have persistent FCID's. Post SanOS 2.0 it is the default to have persistent FCID's.

Cheers
