Hi;

I have configured HSRP in several VLAN's in two 6506.

The thing is that I would like to filter the HSRP traffic in the user hosts.

I can do it? How?

Thanks. Regards

Are you saying you would like to filter HSRP events from crossing a user VLAN? You will need a layer 2 connection between the 6506's for HSRP. STP will determine where layer 2 traffic between the switches goes.

Q. HSRP stops working when an Access Control List (ACL) is applied. How can I permit HSRP through an ACL?

A. HSRP hello packets are sent to multicast address 224.0.0.2 using UDP port 1985. Whenever an ACL is applied to an HSRP interface, ensure that packets destined to 224.0.0.2 on UDP port 1985 are permitted.

HTH and please rate.
