Tomcat Service Failing

I just installed 2.6 and when I get try to open the HP I get the message that says the services are still starting. I did a pdshow at the command line and all services are running.

The only problem I see is that everytime I try to open CiscoWorks the Tomcat service fails. Any suggestions on resolving this?

I have no problem reinstalling, but I don't want to go through the process if I'm going to get the same result.

Hi.

What happens if you try to start tomcat manually? Do you get an error message?

It starts without error. Unfortunately, the service dies once you try to use CiscoWorks again. The only error that appears is in the System Event Log saying "the tomcat service has failed this number of times".

I have a feeling it was a falty install somewhere even though I didn't get an error.

Since I haven't populated any data in the database, do I need to uninstall or can I reinstall over the top to fix the problem?

Hi, if you would like to go ahead and do a reinstall, you should run the uninstall prior to reinstalling anew. Also, after the uninstall, check to make sure that the $NMSROOT directory (where you did the install previously) is gone...then do the reinstall.

Best of luck...let me know of any problems,

-Joe R.

Thanks for the information. Are there any registry or system files that need to be removed that you know of?

Hi. Nothing outside of the normal installation procedure. Please note, that you should uninstall in the reverse order that the modules were installed. So, if you installed in the recommended order:

Common Services --> RME -->Campus -->DFM -->IPM , you will want to uninstall in the opposite order.

Hope this helps,

-Joe

If you want to uninstall you should download the script clean_system.exe and run it before reinstalling. This will clear everything up properly.

I would like at a few logs rather than reinstall right away, what if the problem comes back??

Any errors in CSCOpx\MDC\tomcat\logs\stdout.log?

I did the uninstall in reverse order, deleted the old directory and reinstalled.

Not sure what changed, but it seems to be working perfectly now.

I did look at the stdout.log and it had no errors of any kind in it. I looked through some of the install logs and it did mention a couple of errors during DFM install.

Thanks for all the help.
