Solved: 6500 CatOS upgrade to Cisco IOS

I have upgraded a new 6509 CatOS to Cisco IOS but not an existing production CatOS.

Would I be correct that the existing configuration is lost in the upgrade? Does cisco have a utility to convert CatOS configuration to Cisco IOS? Or should I concede and plan for a manual reconfiguration.
