Hi All

I have configured snmp properties from Cat 4003/4006. Changed the public string and configured ip permit list for snmp to the Ciscoworks Servers.

I cannot get any syslog messages on the boxes or in the Ciscoworks syslogs.

Please help.

Thanks

For Syslog and SNMP are different things.

For syslog:

set system syslog-file

set logging server enable

set logging server x.x.x.x

set logging server severity 6

Alternatively, you can specify file where to write syslog on your flash memory with "set system syslog-file" command. Without any parameter it sets syslog to default file. 4003/6 is old stuff, maybe you have to specify it there.

Sorry, my mistake. Thanks Guys

I meant syslog

I have the following (in the attached file) on the Switches and the .xls in the Ciscowork but I still do not receive any messages from the Cat 4003 and 4006. Please help.

On your ciscoworks server:

1. Are both of your devices in the inventory ?

2. When you run an "unexpected device" report in RME does an ip address associated with either of those devices show up ?
