How important is it to keep the MARS software updated to the latest version? We are rununng 4.2.4

When it comes to security appliances I'm in the camp that says upgrade as soon as you can. These devices are different from routers and switches, where you might keep a "scrubbed" version of software for quite some time.

In your case, the upgrade to 4.25 fixed the Daylight Savings issue that MARS had.

I'ved been installing and upgrading to 4.27 for my clients and have seen no issues.

Just my 2 cents.

I agree with pmccubbin. If you want to get the most value out of MARS (or any SIM for that matter) you've got to keep it up to date so that it understands the latest signatures/events. Also, there are some significant bugs being fixed.
