Hi
Why does my router get interface resets although the line is down?
Serial1 is up, line protocol is down
Hardware is HD64570
Description:
Internet address is
MTU 1500 bytes, BW 64 Kbit, DLY 20000 usec, rely 255/255, load 1/255
Encapsulation HDLC, loopback not set, keepalive set (10 sec)
0 output errors, 0 collisions, 235 interface resets
Thanks

Hi
Can you confirm whether the link connected on serial 1 is flapping(fluctuating) ?
Have you observed any interface flap messages on the logs ?

I can't really confirm that the line is not flapping. Although the logs don't indicate the line flapping severely. It shows about 10 flaps, but the "clear counters" time shows over 3 hours and the interface resets are at 200 odd? I find that very weird. I know interface resets are to do with line flaps, but in this instance, the line flaps and interface resets do not correspond. I have few line flaps and many interface resets.
Thanks
