LAN interface resets?

Hi

If I have an interface on a switch, why would it have interface resets?

FastEthernet0/2 is down, line protocol is down (notconnect)

Hardware is Fast Ethernet, address is 000c.cec4.0d02 (bia 000c.cec4.0d02)

MTU 1500 bytes, BW 10000 Kbit, DLY 1000 usec,

reliability 255/255, txload 1/255, rxload 1/255

Encapsulation ARPA, loopback not set

Keepalive set (10 sec)

Auto-duplex, Auto-speed

0 output errors, 0 collisions, 2 interface resets

Doing a sh contro eth-contr fas 0/2 I don't see any errors on the controller.

Interface Resets Gives the number of times that an interface has been completely reset.

This can happen if packets queued for transmission were not sent within several seconds.

On a serial line, this can be caused by a malfunctioning modem that is not supplying the

transmit clock signal, or by a cable problem. If the system notices that the carrier

detect line of a serial interface is up, but the line protocol is down, it periodically

resets the interface in an effort to restart it. Interface resets can also occur when an

interface is looped back or shut down.
