I have a single unrestricted PIX 515e running with 3 interfaces in use. Each interface is configured 100 full duplex into a cisco 3550 switch again with ports set at 100 full.
Traffic throughput is around 800kbps on each interface which with the availability of 100Mb would appear very low indeed.
Standard pings are <1ms however protocols such as ftp and sftp appear to be the most impacted.
I have turned off logging etc and the performance of the PIX would appear to be fine. Filtering is very basic on the firewall.
Any suggestions on how to resolve or better monitor this would be appreciated.
Regards
Simon

You can start by clearing and then checking the input/output error counters on all interfaces on the PIX and the switch ports. The speed sounds to low to be anything other than a duplex/hardware problem.

thanks for the reply. I have checked and all appears to be ok on the ports on the switch and the firewall.
