WAN/LAN setuphelp

We currently have a network setup that consists of a 1700 series router connected to a 501 pix and then a 48 port switch.The input to the router from the outside world is a fiber that simply passes thru a switch to convert it from fiber to ethernet.The range of Outside IP's are 77.88.239.64- 77.88.239.94. We are upgrading to the ASA 5510. My question is this, is the router still needed for this setup, will the ASA 5510 do what the router is doing?

Hi

If you are going to have a ethernet drop then you can connect the same directly onto the ASA instead introducing one more device in between.

Hi,

Totally agree with Edwin, generally a router would be required if we need WAN links or advanced routing which the ASA can't perform, but in your case, there is no need for the router.
