Just make sure that the syslog service is started on the server and enable logging to the IP address of the server on the device.

logging

This should be all that is needed to make it to the server log file.

Try generating a message with packet capture enabled on the server to see if the message is making it to the server.

logging was enabled to the IP address of the server on the router. On another windows 98 machine kiwi syslog daemon was installed and

logging was enabled to the IP address of the

machine having kiwi installed. Now router was

supposed to log on both the machines (i.e. on

windows 98 machine having kiwi as well as on

the server having cisco works 2000).reload command was fired from the router the message

appeared on kiwi but there was not entry in

syslog.log file.

As per your suggetion packet capture software

is being down loaded and it will be viewed if message is making it to the server.

There is fire wall on our network. On an average four messages are being logged on to syslog server.Ciscoworks 2000 logs one message within two to four seconds where as kiwi(free syslog server) logs around all the messages generated by the fire wall. Most of the Messages from other devices are not logged on to syslog.log file by the ciscoworks 2000 .Are there any set up set changes / configuration changes required so that Cisco works 2000 logs all the messages in syslog.log file?
