Is it possible to reserve resources on a Catalyst 6500 switch so that even if other processes (routing, switching, etc) take up 100% of the CPU utilization, a certain portion of the CPU power is reserved for console access. This way, you'll never get locked out of the console which has been happening to us because of some loop problems
I need to know if this can be done on the CatOS or native IOS.
Thank you

Hi,
You can use the scheduler allocate command:

Two questions
1) This guarantees the % CPU available for process tasks. However, EIGRP routing, etc are all process tasks and it's possible that these may take up all the reservation I create once again making the console inaccessible. So would this command really help me?
2) Is there a counter command for CatOS?
Thank you
