When a dot1q trunk is SPANd on a 6513 the dot1q tag appears to be lost. This is supported on the 3750s I have in a lab but not the 6513. Any ideas?

Hi Leigh,

You need to configure the destination port as trunk, setting is to non-negotiate and the chosen encapsulation type.

Then, configure the monitor session to use it as destination port.

Note that the sequence here is important. You have to configure destination port first and then configure the SPAN session, a restriction removed in some latest releases. There is no need to specify the encapsulation type in SPAN session configuration in 6500, as for 3750. Please try it out and update if it works for you.

Thanks that is it

That does the trick. Just a note when changing to non-negotiate the port need a shut/no shut before it works
