Hi,
When adding a VLAN to a VTP domain, is there a requirement to create the vlan interface on the edge switch that hosts the clients that belong to that vlan? I use HSRP between the two core switches so have currently assigned the following:-
Switch A
vlan 400
ip address x.x.x.2
standby ip x.x.x.1
Switch B
vlan 400
ip address x.x.x.3
standby ip x.x.x.1
Switch C (edge switch)
no configuration but has users assigned the vlan using the switchport vlan 400 command.

Nope, there is no need to create SVI for Vlan 400 on the edge switch. As you are running VTP and all the vlans will exist on your all the switches in the same VTP domain. Your core switches have already SVI for Vlan 400 and this is the switch which will do the inter-vlan routing between other Vlans on your network. The HSRP address for Vlan 400 will be used as gateway for Hosts in Vlan 400.
You can create a SVI on the edge switch and only for the management prupose i.e to manage the switch remotely. It can be any SVI for the vlans that exist in the Vlan database and is routed on core switches so that you can manage is remotely.

Hi,
Amit is right here, you need not to create SVI on the edge router..
but before changing the vlan of any port at edge router just make sure that edge router vtp mode is "Client"
if edge router is in vtp transparent mode, you have to define vlan 400 on the edge router and then issue command "switchport vlan 400"
