VPN client on VMWARE virtual machine

This might be a trivial problem or even FAQ which I could not find.

I try to establish access to a remote LAN through VPN client software (v4.8) and a PIX 500 something. The client software runs on a Windows XP VMWARE virtual machine hosted by another XP running VMWARE server supplying internet access via NAT. I hope this is the right way to set up this VPN client.

The client software is able to connect successfully, but there is a logged add route error 87. Of course I'll supply detailed info on this if helpful.

No ping to any host in the remote LAN is successful.

The XP firewall on the VM is disabled.

If you please have any hint for some novice... maybe there is some article about running VPN client software on virtual machines?

TIA,

Herbert

The Cisco Security Agent has not been fully qualified during the use of VMware Virtual Center's virtualization-based distributed services such as VMware DRS, VMware High Availability (HA) and VMware VMotion. Check Check for host emulation if you want to determine whether the operating system is running over virtualization software, such as VMWare.
