I get error on my 2651XM router when trying to save the running config
R#copy run start
Destination filename [startup-config]?
startup-config file open failed (Not enough space)
R#sh start
R#sh startup-config
Using 18302 out of 29688 bytes
%Error opening nvram:/startup-config (Bad address)
The software version is c2600-entservicesk9-mz.124-8.bin
What do the errors mean

Likely hardware fault. Save config to a file and try "wr erase". If still trouble, nvram is faulty and router needs replacement.

We just had this problem on a 3845, TAC had us save the config to a file and then do 'erase nvram', and everything was fine after that.

Somewhere between two maintenance releases in 12.4 there was a bug related to NVRAM. After the upgrade I noticed that (lab) router came up with wiped out config. Erasing NVRAM resolved problem.
