Quick question

I'm running Fiber from one building to another. In the the first building I have a switch with a Gbic installed,and in the other I just have the switch with no Gbic. Can I use a regular media converter in the other building? Or do I need to get another Gbic to complete the line? Switch-Gbic-Fiber-Media converter-Cat5e-Switch???? Will it work??

Hi

Whats the GBIC module being used out there in your switch and afaik you wont be able to hard code the speed in your GBIC which normally operates on 1000Mbps and your media converter works only with 100Mbps.

you wont get the connectivity through with this mismatch in the speed..
