ATA question

Hello,

Does the Cisco ATA support two independant lines? I know that it has two analog ports, but my impression from the Cisco product information page is that only the 188 will support two separate lines and not the 186.

I have this problem too.

I think both support two separate lines.

In ata 186 line 1 is associated to the mac address of the ata (i.e aaaabbbbcccc)

Line 2 is asscociated to a fake mac address

01aaaabbbbcc.

No, actually I think that is incorrect. The second mac address will lost its two leading zeros and an 01 is added at the end.

One thing to remember with ATA

Only one port supports G711 and G729

The other port only supports G711

You can configure this, but default port 1 supports both codecs and port 2 only G711

Very annoying when you what to terminate VOIP g729 calls to port 2
