CSS Multiple modules sharing CPU resources.

Good afternoon,

Maybe I miss understood, but I thought that If I had multiple modules wether it be a SCM or IOM module that the load would be spread across multiple modules?

If I keep checking the cpu resources, I see that only the SCM module has any CPU load on them.

RESNXLB01_C0302# sh system-resources cpu_summary

Chassis CPU Utilizations

Name Slot Sub CPU%

----------------------------------

CSS5-SCM-2GE F0 1 1 33%

CSS5-IOM-2GE E0 2 1 0%

RESNXLB01_C0302# sh system-resources cpu_summary

Chassis CPU Utilizations

Name Slot Sub CPU%

----------------------------------

CSS5-SCM-2GE F0 1 1 43%

CSS5-IOM-2GE E0 2 1 0%

RESNXLB01_C0302# sh system-resources cpu_summary

Chassis CPU Utilizations

Name Slot Sub CPU%

----------------------------------

CSS5-SCM-2GE F0 1 1 29%

CSS5-IOM-2GE E0 2 1 0%

Thx

the traffic load is shared between the modules but only the SCM does all the maintenance function like CLI, Telnet, Routing Table,...

If your traffic is very low - less than 1% cpu required, you don't see any activity on the other module.

Do a 'flow stat' and verify your traffic rate on each module - FCB per seconds.

Gilles.

Gilles,

So processing of scripts will only be done in the SCM?

Thx

Rich,

yes, the SCM is the only one managing the scripts and keepalives.

Gilles.

So is there any other way to accomplish the following service without utilizing a script? At a minimum presenting the web server with the host headder tag? Could something be done with a global keepalive?

service Marketplace-2

ip address x.x.x.x

keepalive port 80

redundant-index 8741

keepalive frequency 30

keepalive type script ap-kal-httptag "Marketplace2.company.com /keepalive/lb.htm Marketplace2"

active

Thx
