The voicemail box (Unity) allow the callers to record a voicemail message of 90 seconds. Is it possible to increase this time to 180 seconds? If yes, please give me some directions and which settings to change. Thanks

Hi Yama,

This setting can be configured to 180 seconds, have a look (there are 2 spots to change, 1 for Outside callers and 1 for other Unity Subscribers);

For outside callers;

Subscribers > Subscribers > Messages Page

Maximum Message Length in Seconds

Set the recording length allowed for messages left by unidentified callers.

Subscribers may want to limit the length of messages from unidentified callers. Some departments, such as Customer Service, may want to permit much longer messages.

If enabled, callers will hear a warning tone before the maximum message length is reached.

The recording length allowed for messages left by other subscribers is set on the applicable Subscribers > Class of Service > Messages page.

For other Subscribers;

Subscribers > Class of Service > Messages Page

Maximum Length of Message that Subscribers Can Record in Seconds

Select the length for recording messages allowed to subscribers that are assigned to this COS. The default setting is 300 (5 minutes), and the system maximum is 1200 (20 minutes).

**The maximum recording length of messages left by unidentified callers is set on the Subscribers > Subscribers > Messages page.

Hope this helps!

Dear Rob,

I couldn't find the configuration (Subscriber) in Cisco Unity Express. I think the configuration you sent is from the Cisco Unity. Am I right? Thanks.

Hi Yama,

Sorry about that, I thought you were referring to Unity :) Here is the info for CUE;

Configuring System-Wide Mailbox Default Values

The following system-wide parameters are configurable for all new voice mailboxes. These values are assigned automatically to a new voice mailbox. Several of these values have factory default values.

Capacity The total amount of storage time in hours allowed for all mailboxes in the system. The factory default is the maximum allowed storage for your system.

Expiration date The number of days a message is saved in the mailbox. When the user logs in to the voice mailbox, the user hears a message listing all the expired messages. The user can save, skip, or delete each message. The factory default value is 30 days.

Language The language used for voice-mail prompts. In Release 2.0, U.S. English, European French, German, and European Spanish are the available languages. The default value is determined by the language package installed, and cannot be changed using the CLI commands.

Mailbox size The maximum number of seconds of storage for voice messages in a mailbox. The factory default value is determined by dividing the maximum storage capacity by the maximum number of mailboxes (personal plus general delivery).

***Message length The maximum number of seconds for any one stored message in a mailbox. The factory default is 60 seconds.

Recording time The maximum amount of time for a user's recorded mailbox greeting.
