Hi, ive had a weird problem with my ATA186 drops calls on port 1 after 10 to 30 mins. A Sniffer trace found that the ATA goes to pull down the config on port 2 during the call, and because the port 2 wasnt configured on the callmanager 5.1, it couldnt find the config on the TFTP server. At this point the ATA crashes and we get a temp fail on the Phones. The Solution for the moment is to create a dummy port 2 and number on the CallManager. Has anyone else seen this Problem ?

I'm getting a 186 in a few days for my CM 4.2 set up. Will let you know if I do. Thanks for the heads up.

Hello Tristan ,
We used to have this Problem with the ATA186 and we digged around and resolved the problem using the following Procedure :
1 - By default the Cisco ATA186 2 Ports ( Port 1 & Port 2 ) are enabled to Register on the CCM.
2 - Instead of creating Dummy Phones using Port 2 Mac Address , Login to the ATA186 Configuration Page using web access
Example : http://192.168.1.10/dev
3 - You will find the following 2 Fields :
EPID0orSID0 = ATA Port1
EPID1orSID1 = ATA Port 2
4 - The Deafult Value = " . " which means that the Registration is enabled on this Port .
5 - Change the EPID1 Value = " 0 " and Phone 2 Port will not try to register on the CCM Anymore.
Review attached ScreenShot for reference.
