Hello everybody.

I have a CallManager 4.2(3) with h323 gateway. When I call from IP Phone through h323 gateway to PSTN, the codec is g729 I dont have configure any region only the default which use g711.

But when I call backwards from PSTN>h323gateway>IP phone the codec is g711 which is correct.

The IP Phones are on the LAN so I dont need to use the codec g729.

How can I force the calls from IP PHONE>H323GATEWAY>PSTN to use codec g711??

Regards

Hola Walter,

Check the dial-peer voip in IOS GW and configure either a voice class codec or hardcode the codec. (ie codec g711ulaw)

Since regions are already configured.

Hola gogasca thank for answering.

I already configure de codec g711aLaw on dial-peer voice XXX voip with target to the CallManager, because when I receive a call from PSTN>h323gateway>IP phone codec is g711alaw.

The problem is when I call from IP Phone>h323gateway>PSTN the codec is g729.

I dont know why, because I dont have any region configure on the CallManager.

And I have this problem with all IP Phones installed on the LAN.

Regards Walter

Check which is your incoming dial-peer...

Do a show call active voice brief...to find out...

Hello gogasca thank for your answer

I check as you wrote the incoming dial-peer,

and I found my problem I have added a new dial-peer in order to receive calls from PSTN to Cisco Unity.

I just adjust the codec g711aLaw and It works.

Hi Walter,

You have stated "I have added a new dial-peer in order to receive calls from PSTN to Cisco Unity" an you have adjusted that.

Then when you make a call from IPPhone to PSTN, it uses this dial-peer, I would suggest you to have different dial-peers for specific patterns in your setup.
