Does the Cat 2960 support InterVlan routing?

We are looking to buy a Cat2960 for a test lab but we need to be able to have multiple port based VLAN's that can route between them. I think Cisco refers to this as InterVlan routing or L3 Switching. From the documentation and spec sheets I can't tell if this product supports this or not.

No, inter-VLAN routing is supported on the Cat 3560 and above, but not on the 2960. The base image on the Catalyst 3560 and 3750 supports static and RIP routing, but if you want EIGRP or OSPF, you need to buy the enterprise image.

Cisco makes inexpensive routers such as the 1800 and the 2800 which will do inter-VLAN routing and a whole lot more. You can almost buy a 2960 and a 1800 for the same price as a 3560, so it's something to look into.

actually, if you purchase the enhanced IOS image of the 2960, you can perform IVR. the common standard IOS image for 2960 does not support it.

Michael,

2960 is a pure layer 2 switch. It doesnot support layer-3 capabiltities like basic routing and IVR. Its not supported in standard and even in enhanced IOS.
