Hello,
Our Network Admin has left the company and Original ACS CD is lost, we have a copy of the original CD.
How do I determine that the version is not a trial version.
Does ACS ver 4.0 support Windows 2003
Does ACS ver 3.3 supports Windows 2003
Thanks

Hi,
You can install ACS on a server, if its trial, it will during install tell you the same. But rather then going though that, you can provide the contract number under which you purchased ACS 4.x to TAC, and TAC will provide you with the complete Full download image. No CD, but you'll have complete Full software package, that you can burn and keep.
Other then that, here are the specification for 4.0 & 3.3,
For ACS 4.0.x:
http://www.cisco.com/univercd/cc/td/doc/product/access/acs_soft/csacs4nt/acs40/win40sdt.htm#wp33543
?Windows 2000 Server, with Service Pack 4 installed
?Windows 2000 Advanced Server:
?with Service Pack 4 installed
?without features specific to Windows 2000 Advanced Server enabled
?Windows Server 2003, Enterprise Edition, with Service Pack 1 installed
?Windows Server 2003, Standard Edition, with Service Pack 1 installed
For 3.3.3:
?Windows 2000 Server, with Service Pack 4 installed
?Windows 2000 Advanced Server
?with Service Pack 4 installed
?without features specific to Windows 2000 Advanced Server enabled
?Windows Server 2003, Enterprise Edition with Service Pack 1 installed
?Windows Server 2003, Standard Edition with Service Pack 1 installed
If you have contract for 4.x then I would suggest you to go for ACS 4.1.x:
?Windows 2000 Server (English version only)
?Windows 2000 Advanced Server (Service Pack 4) without features specific to Windows 2000 Advanced Server enabled or without Microsoft clustering service installed (English version only)
?Windows Server 2003, Enterprise Edition or Standard Edition (Service Pack 1)
?Japanese Windows Server 2003 (Service Pack 1)
PLUS:
"ACS is supported on Windows Server 2003 R2."
acs 4.1.x is also supported on some tested vmware platform,
System requirements are documented in the Installation Guide for Cisco Secure ACS 4.1 Windows. The following updates have been made to the ACS system requirements. ACS 4.1 supports:
?Pentium dual-core processors. This support is with Intel but not Advanced Micro Devices (AMD).
?VMware. ACS 4.1 was tested on the following VMWare platform:
?VMWare ESX server 3.0.0
?Processor?AMD Opteron Dual core
?# of Virtual machines?4
?Guest operating system?Windows 2003 Standard Edition
?RAM for each guest operation system?3 GB
And if you want to apply Service Pack 2 on Windows 2003 server, Then I would suggest you to wait for a month or two, before you apply that patch, as it will be supported/tested on version 4.1.4 (yet to be released).
Regards,
Prem

Thanks for the information which is really useful.
One more question ; to integrate ACS with Active Directory do the ACS-Server needs to be part of a Domain or stand-Alone Server.

Domain member is by far the best solution.

Hi,
Yes I agree of the post that we should go for installing ACS on a Member Server.
As ACS could be installed on either a member server or a domain controller.
So Member server is the one we should go for.

Prem
